About the Role As a Maintenance and Grounds Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of campus buildings and grounds. This is a full-time, hourly position within our Facilities’ department, reporting directly to the Facilities Operations Manager. This role includes participation in an after-hours on-call rotation to respond to campus emergencies. What You Will Do General Maintenance: Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs, while maintaining campus infrastructure like doors, windows, lighting, and fixtures. Groundskeeping & Seasonal Care: Operate and maintain landscaping equipment for mowing, pruning, fertilizing, leaf collection, and robust snow and ice removal. Campus Infrastructure Support: Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, outdoor lighting, athletic fields, walkways, and parking lots. Event & Team Collaboration: Assist with event setup and tear down (including moving furniture and equipment) and work closely with the Facilities team on campus beautification projects. Safety & Service: Respond to campus work orders promptly and professionally while ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and proper chemical handling. What We Are Looking For Education: High school diploma or GED required. Trade school certification or technical training in building maintenance or landscaping is a plus. Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance and groundskeeping, with proven experience operating maintenance and landscaping equipment. Prior experience in an educational or institutional setting is preferred. Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and comfortably work outdoors in varying weather conditions. License: A valid driver’s license is required. Core Competencies for Success Technical proficiency in building systems and tools. Strong reliability, initiative, and safety awareness.
